Frequently Asked Questions

  • I have been fortunate to live in two great cities, Austin, TX and Asheville, NC. Because of my connection to and love of Austin, I maintain my Texas license and continue seeing Texan clients virtually. In Asheville, I see clients in-person and I provide virtual services for all North Carolinians. I am also able to provide therapy to clients in over 40 states and territories covered by PsyPact.

  • All sessions are $200.

  • My practice does not accept insurance. However, many insurance companies reimburse individuals for a portion of the cost of treatment with an out-of-network provider. I am happy to provide you with an invoice (superbill) that includes your payment history if you are interested in pursuing reimbursement. Questions about reimbursement are best addressed to your insurance provider as policies differ widely between companies.

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits?

How much of my out-of-network deductible has been met this year?

For therapy: Are outpatient mental health services covered? Are telehealth sessions covered?

For assessment: Is out-of-network psychological testing covered? Is there any preauthorization needed?

How do I submit for reimbursement?

  • Yes. Researchers were looking into the effectiveness of telepsychology for decades before the pandemic and so far have found it is as effective as in-person therapy. In-person therapy and teletherapy are different and there are times when one may be preferred or even necessary for effective treatment. Often choosing between the two comes down to personal preference. Some of the advantages of teletherapy include being in comfortable, familiar surroundings while in therapy, not having to commute to meet, easier scheduling, and having greater access to quality care through a provider in another location.
